
Susan Burns
Technical Writer & Data Analyst | Indoor Air Quality Manager
Susan Burns joined Environmental Solutions Group (ESG) in 2018 and serves as the company’s lead technical writer and data analyst. With a deep understanding of indoor environmental standards and health-focused diagnostics, Susan specializes in interpreting site data, developing remediation protocols, and supporting ESG’s compliance with the ANSI/IICRC S520 standard for mold remediation. Her work ensures that every report issued by ESG is scientifically accurate, clearly communicated, and actionable for both contractors and clients.
Susan holds a Council-certified Indoor Air Quality Manager (CIAQM) designation, a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Public Administration from East Carolina University. Drawing on her previous experience in home health quality improvement, she brings a systems-based approach to environmental consulting—prioritizing accuracy, occupant safety, and regulatory alignment in every project.
Outside of work, Susan and her husband Chuck enjoy coastal getaways and spending time with their two children. She is also an active volunteer with Juliet’s House Animal Rescue, where she fosters and helps rehome cats and kittens.
