Building Efficiency Technician/HERS Rater

Our Energy Efficiency Technicians are the face of ESG, engaging customers on their own in the field. You will be providing excellent service and expertise to builders and homeowners by evaluating and verifying energy usage in new construction and existing homes and multi-family buildings. ESG is a trusted source for both indoor air quality and energy related consulting in Virginia, North and South Carolina. Our home office is located in Greensboro.

Duties: 

⦁ Perform code compliance duct and whole house air leakage testing on new and existing construction (residential and commercial)
⦁ Inspect Energy Star homes and prepare energy models/HERS Ratings
⦁ Inspect Multi-family buildings to verify green building practices
⦁ Prepare reports for clients and provide guidance to contractors about issues identified
⦁ Promptly communicate any scheduling issues or on-the-job concerns with the office
⦁ Maintain company vehicles and equipment to ensure cleanliness and properly working order
⦁ Need to be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb step ladders safely
⦁ Travel may include 3+ hours in a vehicle in a day. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

Training and assistance to certification available.

Qualifications: 

Required: 

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong understanding of building science dynamics and experience working with building science
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred but not required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Building Science or related field
• RESNET certification
• HERs Rater Certification
• BPI Certification
• LEED AP
• Green Verifier

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
